This week the Community Team is bringing you a Posh Tip: how to have a listing party!
We all take selfie cover shots and have a time of day to take our photos for creating listings, but having friends over and helping each other out is twice the fun! Read our tips for hosting a listing party of your very own — we’re certain you’re going to want to make this a regular occurrence!
1. Designate a place with good lighting.
Natural lighting is your best friend; find a spot by a window or even better, outside where there’s a mixture of direct light and shade.
2. Have mirrors on hand.
It’s always a good idea to have mirrors handy (full length is nice!) so that you and your guests can style the garment and primp before a photo. Everyone likes to look their best, right?
3. Have different rooms and spaces as changing rooms for your guests.
Privacy to change in and out of pieces will allow your guests to feel comfortable around others. It also adds an element of surprise; you and your friends can dress up an outfit and then emerge from the dressing room with pizzazz!
4. Provide snacks and refreshments.
Having something to nibble or sip on is a fantastic way to break the ice and get the party started. Have wine and cheese, smoothies and veggies, or coffee and pastries ready for your guests; they’ll appreciate it!
This week’s Posh Tip will help you add a special touch to your photos before you create a listing. We’re going to share with you all a few of our favorite apps that we use frequently to beautify our photos.
Hudson, Valencia, Hefe…if you want saturated hues and a variety of tones and highlights, consider popping your photo into one Instagram’s filters. We love how simple it is to enhance your photo’s appearance with just a couple of taps on their filter wheel. Don’t forget to use the blur tool to create some fun depth of field.
Ever wonder how people add that hint of blur to their photos in the corners or along the sides? We love using Picfx when we’re adding ‘Bokeh’ to our photos. These clusters of background lights come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors - we love them all! This filter is a
quick and simple way to make your photos pop. Picfx also has a large library of color filters that can be subtly adjusted with the slider on the right hand side of the frame as well as layered with multiple filter effects.
We’ve all been there: there are multiple photos that you want to share but you’ve only got 4 frames on Poshmark to utilize. Enter PicFrame. Choose from a multitude of ratios to adjust the frames and then choose what type of frame you’d like to use for your photos (you can add up to 9). This is a great app to use when you have many angles you’d like to highlight for your listing.
Enjoy! Can’t wait to continue to see your gorgeous covershots and listings!
Yay you made a sale on Poshmark! Now what? Without further adieu, here’s a post with some helpful tips on packaging, shipping boxes, and how to prep your shipment before it goes out to the excited recipient!
Posh Tip #1: Make sure you’re using the correct box!
Boxes labeled “Priority” at the post office are free (woop woop!) and a great option if you don’t have packaging materials at home. They come in a variety of sizes, so it’s easy to find the one that fits your recently-sold Rebecca Minkoff bag or lace cocktail dress. Don’t have time to drop by the post office to pick them up? Don’t fret! You can request for them online and have them dropped off at home!
Also, a standard brown box (like the one pictured below) that you have lying around your house could work too. Just make sure that it’s the appropriate size for what you’re shipping out and ensure the label is clearly affixed to the box.
Boxes that cannot be used are labeled “Priority Flat Rate,” “Regional Rate,” and “Express Mail.” Be careful when you’re picking these boxes up at USPS or ordering them online because they look very similar to the “Priority Mail” boxes that you can use. An example of a “Priority Flat Rate” box (that can’t be used!) is below.
Posh Tip #2: It’s all in the details!
We all love getting pretty little things sent to us in the mail, so why not add a special touch to your sale to make your buyer just that much happier with their purchase from you. Wrap your item in cute tissue paper and include a note to thank your buyer. Check out our blog post for tips on packaging.
Posh Tip #3: Placing your item in the mail
Your package is neatly put together and ready for delivery…now what?! If your parcel is small enough, you may slip it in the nearest blue USPS mail box. For packages that are too large to fit, you can either drop it off at the post office or schedule for a pick up via USPS’ site. Easy breezy.
Lastly, if you want to track your item to see where it is on it’s journey after you’ve shipped it out, make note of the USPS tracking number on the label that was originally emailed to you by Poshmark and plug it in here.
We hope that all these tips have helped you along in getting your Poshmark sales packaged and out the door. Cheers to many sales ahead and, as always, Happy Poshmarking!
If you’ve ever attended a Posh Party in the app you know how fun they can be! Not only do you get to shop for and sell clothing and accessories under different themes every night of the week, but they’re also a great way to interact with the Poshmark community and discover new products and sellers across the country. With all that fun comes a few tips and tricks (as well as proper Party etiquette) that we want to share with you to give you and the rest of the Posh Party goers the best possible experience.
1. Plan out what you want to list! Make sure you visit our blog every Monday to see what parties we have in store for you for the week and check the “Parties” tab in the app. That way you can get your listings ready ahead of time. Refer to this post to get our tips on how to take great photos!
2. Share your themed listings to the party. We suggest doing this gradually throughout the party so that your listings get seen and appreciated. But please remember to share only those listings that fall within the theme of the party!
3. Interact with the Poshmark community! There are so many amazing women on Poshmark, so feel free to show them some love and “like” their listings or leave comments. Go ahead and spread the love!
4. Keep promotional messages and “Tweegrams” to a minimum. Although we love the interactions and fun sales you have, the Posh Party is a tool to promote your themed items, so please don’t clog the feed with promotional messages.
5. Last but definitely not least, have fun! Get your girlfriends together, grab a few snacks (and cocktails!), and shop away! Or if you prefer, join the party from the comfort of your couch. :)
