Poshmark always values feedback from the community so we wanted to take this opportunity to hear from a few members in regards to how they’ve handled the recent news surrounding Poshmark’s latest changes, including PoshPost. Read on to learn more!
With the new shipping and commission updates, I’m making more sales now that the shipping rates are lower. I find that even a dollar or two can really make or break a deal when customers are looking to purchase. I don’t feel like I have to increase my prices to maintain my earnings margin because I’m offering higher quality items that are above the $15 mark, so I feel unaffected by the commission changes. Additionally with the shipping rate lowered I feel like Poshmark now allows me to make more sales and not feel pressured to discounting more for customers unhappy with total price of an item plus shipping.
Some things I’ve been adjusting to include using the Not For Sale (NFS) status to show the items in a “preview to come” listing to increase pre-promotion of new items to my followers. I also use it as a hold on items that are bundled until they have been accepted.
A couple of tips that I would offer to Poshers still adjusting with the changes are: use the NFS tags in creative ways for reserves, welcome posts, chatting listings, or party announcements. Also, share the news with your followers and potential customers that shipping rates are lower - it may lead them to making more purchases.
With the new commission and shipping updates, my customers have been buying more because they are spending less on shipping. In addition, I have been using a five items for $15 promotion and have had more customers spend more than $15 on their bundles. They feel like they are getting more for less and I am making the same profit as the 20% commission (if not more!).
To encourage sales and bundles, I have created my own personalized thank you business cards. The cards state thank you for your purchase please leave feedback and 10% off will be awarded off your next purchase. Makes it simple and fast!
One recommendation that I have for any Poshers still adjusting is to be proactive not reactive about change. Change is a very difficult thing to deal with, and any comments that you make about the changes, Poshmark, or other individuals is a reflection of your closet. You are a brand ambassador for yourself and the Poshmark community. Keep it positive.
I believe the new shipping and commission updateshave improved morale of the general community, and also increased my sales. I have not actually increased my prices to maintain earnings because careful thought always goes into my pricing. I allow myself a sufficient margin to anticipate trends whether it is changes made by Poshmark or those due to current demand and competition internally and externally (outside of Poshmark). I am now seeing less bundles and more single purchases of higher cost, and I believe this is because the buyer no longer has to “jump through hoops” to get a great deal now.
One noteworthy change to my Poshing is I have been using the NFS status for inventory management. When I need to know how many available listings I have this gives me a true number since it excludes notes with listings of $0 listing price. It’s a quick tool to be able to know what I’ve sold weekly. Now I have much easier visual inventory control. Defining my unproductive inventory is also quicker now. By using the NFS tool in conjunction with the Filters, I am now able to define the 20% that’s selling and 80% that’s not. I am also able to track trends of each item posted.
My advice for Poshers still adjusting to the updates is first and foremost to have fun! Poshmark is an evolving platform that is consistently listening to its users in order to improve. In this day and age we don’t have the luxury to think rigid. For example when Apple has an upgrade we all know it’s going to be for something better. Poshers that are still adjusting should inherit that same trust.
Scoring a good deal on Poshmark is all about finding it first. Read on for a handful of tips that can help you nab the next amazing Posh find for your wardrobe.
Find your Stylemate
First things first, find your stylemates on Poshmark. A stylemate is someone who wears the same sizes you do and shares a similar taste in style. There is no one simple way to instantly find your stylemate, but you can find a lot of great closets by searching for people who sell pieces from your favorite brands and designers. Following these users mean that when they list new items, you’ll see them in your feed on Poshmark, therefore the potential for seeing them before other users is greater.
Shop “First Look” Showrooms
The second and third party every day always has a showroom that is titled “First Look.” In case you’re not familiar with it, this showroom is a one-stop-shop for all items that have never been shared to a Posh Party before. While these items are not necessarily brand new to Poshmark, there is still a pretty good chance for you to unearth a killer deal by perusing this showroom.
Search Poshmark by Keyword
Are you on the hunt for a specific item or style? Try searching for the item name or using keywords to scour all closet listings. If you don’t find the item you’re looking for right away, don’t fret. Just check back regularly because you never know when your dream piece will be listed for sale. Additionally Poshmark automatically saves your most recent search history in the app so you can easily search again whenever you want!
Bartering With Care
Some Poshers are open to bartering their listed prices, but your success in doing so all depends on how you approach it. Many users are turned off by comments such as “Lowest?” or offers that are significantly lower than the listed prices. You’ll find better results by approaching users with full sentences and bargaining in terms of percentage. For instance, try figuring out what 15% off their listed price is and ask if they’d be willing accept that amount.
Seasonality of Shopping
There is a quite a bit of seasonality when it comes to shopping; you tend to buy swimsuits and sandals at the spring and coats, sweaters, and boots at the fall. In considering the law of supply and demand, the more in demand a particular kind of item is, the more expensive it’ll be. That means at the end of a season, those seasonal items will most likely be available at deeper discounts due to the decline in demand. Bonus tip: This is also something helpful to keep in mind when stocking your closet as a seller.
Recruit Your Friends
Get friends to help you shop! The more eyes looking for any particular order, the better. At PMHQ, we’ve all become familiar with one another’s sizes and styles so when we find something that’s perfect for them, we tag them to let them know. And don’t worry if your friends aren’t on Poshmark already because you can invite them! The best part is it’s an easy $50 bucks for you (plus $5 for each friend) if they use your referral code!
We hope that by using some or all of these tips will help you find you new go-to handbag, your dream shoes, or anything else your closet desires.
We know at times it can seem intimidating to try to take the perfect Covershot, and you may think it’ll just be easier to use a beautiful photo that someone else took. That’s when the thought crosses your mind: Is that okay to do?
Read on to get some best practices for using photos you didn’t take:
Even though we’re big fans of their great photography and beautiful pictures (hello, Instagram), whoever took the photo is the copyright holder of that image. They can sell or give permission to use it if they wish. They might even be open to their images being used if you reach out and ask. Others may not mind someone else using their photos at all! However, unless you took the photo, it’s best to assume you don’t have the right to use it.
What if you still want to use photography that isn’t yours? We strongly recommend to:
1. Get permission from the image owner - whether it’s an individual or a company. Don’t be shy! Reach out to the owner of the image for their go-ahead. Most image owners don’t mind as long as you’ve cleared it with them first.
2. When posting the picture, make sure you mention the original owner, link or tag them and other necessary ways to show the image’s source.
3. If you don’t receive permission, use a different image altogether to avoid any sticky situations! Let your personality and creativity shine and take your own photos for listings - it’s the best way for your potential buyer to know exactly what they’ll get when they buy the item!

We’ve shared a lot of advice on how to take Covershots in the past, but what about the other three photo shots? Once your Covershot has caught a potential buyer’s eye, you can seal the deal with other amazing shots. Read on for our tips on taking a great product shot:
Your photos will come out clearer if you brace your arm or camera on something stationary. This is especially important in low light situations.
Be Mindful of Your Surroundings
Make sure your foreground and background are clear of anything that may take away from your product shot.
Take Multiple Shots
Multiple shots means more chances at a perfect product shot. Use your device’s camera app to click away as many times as you need to get the shot.
Use Flash Sparingly
Your photos will turn out much better and look more like they do in real life if you keep the flash off and use natural light. If natural light isn’t available, try a brightly lit room rather than overexposing one area of the item you are photographing.
Tap the Screen to Focus
Avoid blurry images by tapping on the item you’re photographing to make the focus crystal clear. This tip is especially important when taking close up shots of your image.
Don’t Over Edit
Sometimes less is more when it comes to after effects. Make sure your additions and changes don’t take away from your amazing photography skills!
Try Something New
Experiment with the types of product shots you take. Get inspiration from fellow Poshers, try arranging items differently and give new angles a try.
We are so excited to have launched Poshmark on Android and want to share with our community some of our favorite Android apps to use when creating those glamorous Covershots. With so many to choose from, we chose our top three for ease of usability and variety. Can’t wait to see what gorgeous cover shots our Poshers are creating!
1. PhotoGrid – Free
A must-have app, PhotoGrid allows you to create collages with your photos. Modify the layout, play with the ratio of the frames, add text and clip art – this app does it all! Fun little tip – you can shake your device and the app will change the layout for you, if you can’t decide.
2. LINE camera – Free
LINE camera is another fantastic app that gives you the flexibility to play around with collage options. You can also select from a variety of filters, including ones that have the fun bokeh effect. Tap the filter to see other options for that style; in our example we chose the Party filter. Don’t forget you can also play with the intensity to make your filter full effect or faded!
3. Phonto – Free
We know every now and then you want to add a pop of text in a fun font to add dimension to your cover shot. Vary the font, the pt. size, even the color with this great app for typefaces. Tilt words to match the direction of an item in your photo and play with the location of the text. The options are pretty much endless!
As you may know, Poshmark uses Priority Mail shipping labels for all Poshmark orders. But what boxes can you use to ship? We’re here to clear that up for you!
Priority Mail Boxes
USPS offers a line of FREE boxes and envelopes for Priority Mail customers. This packaging can be picked up at many Post Offices, but keep in mind that at some locations they may be kept behind the counter so you’ll have to ask for them. Don’t have time to go to the post office? No sweat! You can order supplies for free on USPS.com or on their free mobile app.
Your Own Packaging
If you have your own boxes or padded envelopes lying around, you are, of course, welcome to use them to ship your sales. We do caution that you are careful to cover or remove any old shipping labels, barcodes or addresses so that your package is properly delivered.
What Not to Use
USPS offers a variety of free packages for it’s different mail services. If you are using the boxes they provide, be sure you are not shipping in the boxes that are labeled ‘Express,’ ‘Flat Rate,’ or ‘Regional Rate’ as they will causes delivery delays and/or additional shipping fees.
As always, if you have questions about shipping or anything else, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We’re happy to help!
We’re sure every Posher can agree, one can never have too many photo enhancing tools in their Posh arsenal. A while back we shared three apps to make your photos shine and we figured we were long overdue in sharing a few more of our favorites.
1. InstaFrame - Free
We’ve all been there; sometimes we want to put multiple images together in one. InstaFrame is one app where you can pull together many images into one great collage. This app also allows you to add fun frames or even add text. Download in iTunes
2. VSCOcam - Free + In-App Purchase
This powerful editing app allows you take your covershot and fine tune every little detail. We love their selection of preset filters and the opportunity to purchase more, but for those who desire more control over their editing, they also have a individual tools to achieve your own final look. Download in iTunes
3. Over - $1.99 + In-App Purchase
Adding text to a Covershot is a fun way to easily communicate small details about your listing. The app Over allows you to add beautiful text and fun icons to your images. They have a great selection of attractive fonts and a few icon packs with the opportunity to purchase additional options. Download in iTunes
Whether you like to jazz up your Covershots with a fun frame, or enhanced with fabulous filters, have fun and let your photos shine!
